When the promos and teasers of Dear Ishq were aired, viewers were anxiously waiting to see a new pairing, of which, television actress Niyati Fatnani recreated the magic on the small screen yet again.

The makers were pretty confident that the actress would surely create the same magic as she’d been doing in her previous stints. “Every platform has a different taking style, so certainly with the character Asmita Roy, I had more freedom in my performance and was more organic. Preparing for the character is a part of my job, but the best part was the team. We had faith in each other. The director gave me a space to explore and experiment, and I had the trust that if I went wrong somewhere: my director would guide me.”

While addressing some more of our questions, Niyati said, “Acknowledgement plays a great role in any actor’s life, whether it’s from the industry or the audience, because acknowledgment motivates you to perform better every day on the shoot. If your work is getting acknowledged, then you are going in the right direction. I am truly grateful to the entertainment industry for accepting me and appreciating my work.”

A loved creation, Niyati has a lot of emotions attached to her ongoing soap opera, showcasing some love for the audiences to feel, but with a pinch of “takraar”!
“My family was deliriously happy. Just like every parent wants their child’s graph to go upward, my parents were also happy to see the growth of my career. I still remember that when I first told them about doing a different role, they were very happy about learning the same.”
When contacted Niyati to know more about the show, she shared, “There is no denying that commitments are one of the most important aspects of television. Sometimes things get hectic, but one needs to learn how to balance things out in life. For me, work and personal life matter equally, so I do find a balance between both. It’s not that hard. In addition to that, a lot of the credit goes to my parents, who are the source of energy.”

Rohit Shetty’s stunt-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi is gearing up for its new season. Like every year, ahead of the show, there are a lot of names going around, and adding to the list is the popular actress Niyati Fatnani. Interesting! And then, when questioned about whether she’s happy doing television, she said, “Television has given me a lot of love and recognition, for sure. I am completely happy with my decision to do television. But being an actor, I don’t want to get boxed into the same medium. I would love to explore other mediums like I have explored the OTT zone with Dear Ishq.”

Niyati has had an incredible journey. She’s your quintessential girl-next-door, effervescent and intellectual, and is living her life to the fullest! “Sehban was cast for the role much before. It was finalised at a later stage of the project.

So I would say destiny prompted us to work together, and I have had a great time shooting with him. He is a very sweet and humble person. Our director, Atif sir, is such a dynamic person that he brings out the best in an actor. He makes actors enjoy the process of acting. He is always open to discussion or improving things, so I would say that he gives every actor a chance to fly. My director knows me from my previous show. He is a very funny and witty person. In fact, if something goes wrong, he makes sure to pull my leg and trouble me to the fullest. There are some projects for which I am in talks, including a movie. So let’s get the project finalised, and then I would be able to talk about the same.”

She owes a huge part of her identity to the art of dance, as it has been a door opener for her. Since childhood, she has been fond of dancing. In fact, she moved to Mumbai initially to learn dance, and it was due to her dancing skills that she bagged her first-ever television show. Dance has taught her a lot, and it is one of her favourite ways to de-stress. Hardly a single day goes by when she is not dancing, either in her mind or in real life.

She also keeps looking for opportunities to brush up on her skills. Overall, she is grateful to this beautiful art form for making her who she is today. The streaming show wrapped up its shoot recently, leaving the cast members emotional. The crew shot for 60 episodes before the curtains came down on the first season. The cast, including lead actress Niyati, is hopeful that the show will soon return with its second season.

Set against the backdrop of an Indian publishing house, the platform brings to the masses a tale of love, a journey with complex emotions, and, at the crux of it, a story of two completely opposite personalities who walk this simple journey of life, unknowingly falling for each other.
