While in a recent conversation with The Pioneer, Digangana Suryavanshi seemed calm and composed post the release of Crazy Fellow(2022).

Talking about her acting process, she remarked, “I can crack a joke right before an emotional scene!” That’s some confidence that many actors wish they had. This time around, we caught up with her again in anticipation of her upcoming show titled, Showstopper. Coincidentally, Showstopper is going to be Digangana’s first web show.

As you all know, the actress made a promising debut at the age of five with, Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat. Years later, her stint at Bigg Boss 9 (2015) gained her a massive following. Also, she’s had two big releases as a debutant in 2018 with Fryday and Jalebi, a feat that’s extremely difficult to achieve in the Indian Film Industry.

The Shakuntala actress managed to woo the Telugu audience as well with Hippi(2019), Seetimaarr(2021), and Crazy Fellow(2022).

After all, what made the young starlet say yes to Showstopper? “The story, my part in it, and the way it evolves. It is not just about the looks but what leads me to that transformation. To me, that’s wonderful and excites me the most,” enthused Digangana.

There is a lot of discussion about what the show has got to offer. We asked the charming star if she could let us in on what we can expect from the show. The Hippi actress shared, “The newness, and I get to be the showstopper. People have seen so many films and there’s a lot of exposure that we have in today’s day. It’s a fresh approach and the show can really lighten up your mood. It’s not at all dark. It’s a feel-good show and that’s something that I actually like about it. We’ve been missing feel-good films for a long time and I am glad I’m getting to be a part of something like this.”

The Crazy Fellow actress says her approach toward acting hasn’t changed a bit. She says there’s a simple reason attached to it, “Acting is a certain thing for me. I don’t see easing out the process for myself. There have been times when I had to enact emotional scenes all throughout the day or for a couple of days in a row. Does that mean I’m going to take the glycerin and get done with it? No! I don’t mean it in a way that taking glycerin isn’t a great thing. I just mean it in a way that this is not something that I’m used to. Just because something is time-consuming, I’m not going to let it go.”

The talented actress is not someone who takes her craft for granted. She is always trying to figure out what’s best for her and the audience.

In our conversation, she said that identification and resonation are the two most important factors when it comes to acting. What could have piqued her interest in her character in Showstopper? “She’s a person from Bhopal and someone who’s very ambitious. It’s all about how life happens to her and things come her way. It’s very different. It’s a new character for me. It’s not close to what I’ve played in the past. As an actor, I’m always excited about playing new roles. It is my first web show and it gives more content and space for every character. You can really carve your role out. It’s got a deeper connection. My character has got its own struggle but also it’s lighthearted and that’s how life is. Even if something really terrible happens to you, you learn to move on.”

“The best part about shooting with Manish sir is that he gives you enough space for you to bring in something to your role,” commented the Seetimaarr actress talking about filmmaker Manish Harishankar. “He sits you down and tries to understand where you’re coming from. He sees to it that we’re on the same page and I think that’s very important. You’re doing a character driver show. There are a couple of aspects to the show and holding it all together could be a task. I’m happy that Manish ji is able to pull it together.”

The 71-year-old Legendary actress Zeenat Aman will also be making her OTT debut with Showstopper and the creators also signed up veteran actress Zarina Wahab. Speaking of them in awe, Digangana commented, “There’s so much to learn from. They are such sweet people. We’ve seen the industry evolve and there are so many experiences that I’m yet to hear from them. I can talk all day about them and it would still not be enough for me. They’re both very punctual to date even after doing so much work. I haven’t heard a single issue arise from them and they’re extremely professional. I sort of learned to not make a big deal out of anything.”

With Showstopper up for a grand release, Digangana looks extremely confident with her body of work. She’s also got a couple of Telugu films lined up for this year.
