BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao has given a clarion call for an intense public struggle against the failures of the Congress Government in addressing people’s problems.
He said, “I have been silent. But I strike hard when I decide to, that’s my habit. People are unhappy with the Congress even after a year of their rule. I have seen many governments, but never one like this. Within a year, people have turned against the Congress.”
He asserted that the BRS, a party born for Telangana, would continue to stand as a protective shield for the people until justice is served to every citizen in the state.
He said, “They keep talking about my farmhouse, but what else is there except crops?”
Addressing a gathering at his Erravalli residence, KCR was visibly moved by the dedication of hundreds of BRS activists, leaders and supporters who undertook a 140-km padayatra over five days from Medapalli village in the Zaheerabad area of Sangareddy district to meet him. Expressing his discontent with the current state of governance, KCR said that despite giving the Congress Government 14 months to perform, it had only pushed Telangana into turmoil. He recalled the long struggle for a separate state and the efforts his government made over a decade to
steer Telangana towards development in every sector. Highlighting the stark contrast between the two regimes, KCR said that under the BRS, Telangana was in the forefront of development and welfare, whereas the Congress government, within just 14 months had left the people in distress. Questioning the Congress’ credibility, he said, “We provided 24-hour power supply within the first few months of statehood, something the Congress failed to do in decades. We ensured irrigation water through massive projects, piped drinking water for every household via Mission Bhagiratha, waived water tax, restored tanks and built reservoirs like Mallanna Sagar. We introduced Rythu Bhima to support farmer families in times of loss, distributed sheep to shepherds, and even during the pandemic, continued Rythu Bandhu without fail. We implemented welfare schemes for everyone, treating Telangana’s people as our own. But now, everything is in shambles under Congress rule.”
Lamenting TG’s financial decline, KCR pointed out that under BRS, Telangana’s revenue grew by Rs 15,000 crore annually, whereas under Congress, it had fallen by Rs 13,000 crore, as per the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report.
“If this continues, Telangana will face severe financial distress. Retired government employees are not even getting their benefits,” he noted.
Criticizing the Congress government’s handling of education, he accused them of mismanaging the state’s gurukul schools and suppressing dissent by filing cases against those who questioned them.
“They secured Muslim votes but failed to address their concerns. They haven’t even considered paying salaries to imams and muezzins. The Congress is back to its old ways —power cuts have returned, drinking water supply is irregular, and governance is collapsing,” KCR remarked.
Referring to irrigation issues in Zaheerabad, he questioned why the Congress government halted the Sangameshwara and Basaveshwara lift irrigation projects, which were sanctioned by BRS. “Farmers are suffering, and what is the district minister doing?” he asked, directing former minister Harish Rao to mobilize farmers for a massive protest against these injustices.
“Telangana was achieved under the pink flag, and no state has seen the kind of development that BRS ensured in just 10 years. If the Congress government continues to neglect public welfare, they will face severe consequences. Their internal surveys show that 75% of people still prefer BRS rule. We will hold a massive public meeting in February to review the Congress’s one-year governance and expose its failures. Even the minorities are saying that they miss KCR,” he claimed.
Taking a dig at the Congress’ impact on real estate, KCR said, “Land prices are crashing under Congress rule. Under BRS, even remote areas saw land values soar to Rs 40-50 lakh per acre. If this continues, the situation will deteriorate further. We must fight back.”
