Continuing their attempts to provide relief to people in the flood-affected regions of Telangana, IAF helicopters dropped around 600 kg of food packets on Friday. The food packets included material contributed by members of the IAF Family Welfare Association popularly known as ‘Sanginis.’
IAF personnel, apart from being the guardian of the Indian airspace, have always been in the forefront of providing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) whenever nature wreaks havoc.
Helicopters from the IAF base at Hakimpet in Hyderabad, which provide helicopter flying training to IAF pilots, are specially tasked to undertake relief operations. They played the key role in evacuating six people stranded atop a JCB in the flood-hit Nainpaka village of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district in Telangana on July 27.
The IAF will continue rescue operations in the state till normalcy returns.
