‘If Uruku Patela does well, I’ll consider producing a film’

Must read

Actor Tejus Kancherla, who brought in a remarkable performance with Hushaaru, is all set to enrapture the hearts of the audience with the upcoming film Uruku Patela.
Basically, after Hushaaru, which was released in 2018, Tejus did get opportunities and had heard many scripts; he was looking for a script that brings a fresh new story. However, when director Vivek presented the story of Uruku Patela, he was quite excited. “We developed the script together and now the movie is complete. The script was prepared, and we presented it to numerous producers. Even though everyone enjoyed the story, nobody was ready to allocate the required funds. In the end, my father caught wind of the story, enjoyed it and chose to bring the film to life.” The film, with the tagline ‘Get Urikified’, is set in a Telangana backdrop with an accent that is easily understandable to everyone. “Since I was born and raised in Hyderabad, the accent wasn’t an issue for me. The teaser and trailer provide a glimpse into the film’s plot and tone. We aimed to give audiences a hint about what to expect, which is why we released these promotional materials,” shares the Un Samayal Arayil actor.
While the trailer may imply the focus is on the heroine, the film itself provides a different perspective. The film’s title, Uruku Patela, is intended to be justified by the content and will keep you laughing from start to finish, affirms the lead actor.
The female lead, Khushboo Choudary, hails from Uttarakhand. “Upon watching her reel, I reached out to her and she attended workshops and performed as instructed. Filming went smoothly without any problems,” shares the actor, adding, “If this film does well and proves profitable, I might consider producing future projects. However, I won’t be handling both production and acting simultaneously, as it’s quite challenging.”
The film is directed by Vivek Reddy under the Lead Edge Pictures banner and produced by Kancherla Bala Bhanu. The music is composed by Praveen Lakkaraju, and cinematography is handled by Sunny Kurrapati.
Meanwhile, he shares, “Uruku Patela is a film that the whole family can enjoy together. It’s filled with humour. Inspired by various superstitions I read about during the lockdown, we crafted this story as a blend of thriller and comedy for complete entertainment.”
He further reveals, “I have a desire to direct in the future. I’m open to contributing to stories that come my way and love writing. If I find a role that excites me and seems fun, I’m open to doing special roles.” The teaser and trailer have heightened expectations for the film, which will be released today as a Vinayaka Chavithi special.
