All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge should have released the Scheduled Castes and Schedule Tribes declaration and ensure that it is implemented first in Karnataka, his home State, said Minister for Finance T Harish Rao on Sunday.
Speaking at a meeting here, the Minister reacted to the Congress party releasing SC and ST declaration by the AICC president. Harish Rao expressed the opinion that the Congress should first implement the declaration in Karnataka State where it is in power.
The Congress-ruled States were giving only Rs 1,000 pension. The Congress leaders, however, were giving tall promises when they visited Telangana. The Congress cannot come to power in the State, Harish Rao asserted. He recalled that the BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar, during the GHMC electioneering, promised to ensure that vehicles, that were washed away in floods, would be compensated. But nothing was done, he pointed out.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was giving higher pensions for the physically challenged, Harish Rao said. He launched the distribution of pensions to beedi takedars. He also handed over the orders regularising the service of Panchayat Sectaries.
Medak Lok Sabha member Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Roja Sharma and District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil were present.
Later, the Minister welcomed 100 Congress activists into the BRS at a meeting here. Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao appealed to the people to extend their cooperation in service activities. He praised the Congress leader Athik, who led his followers into the BRS party, for doing service activities.
Harish Rao said that he has been providing free meals to people in five centres in the district. Apart from that, he ensures that the attendants to the patients in the Government Hospital are provided with meals, he said. He also said that the government has been implementing several welfare programmes for the poor.
