Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has urged the Centre to enhance railway connectivity in Telangana, particularly with rural regions, by sanctioning six new railway lines and extending the MMTS route from Hyderabad to Yadadri. Speaking at the inauguration of the modernised Begumpet Railway Station, virtually launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of a nationwide upgrade of 103 stations, Komatireddy highlighted the urgent infrastructure needs of the state.

Stressing that infrastructure drives economic development, Komatireddy said that the state’s potential can be fully unlocked only when towns and villages are connected efficiently by rail. He appealed for the modernisation of Nalgonda and Miryalaguda stations on the lines of Begumpet and also reiterated the long-pending demand for MMTS connectivity to Yadadri.

“Extending MMTS up to Yadagirigutta will benefit thousands of small-time employees, traders, and devotees who travel daily. It will cut costs and save time,” he said, adding that tenders have now been floated but the project must be expedited. He recalled that he had raised the issue during his tenure as Bhongir MP and urged the Railways to deliver the service at the earliest.

The Minister also requested that the proposed Regional Ring Rail along the upcoming Regional Ring Road be approved to establish a logistic hub around Hyderabad. “Rural railway links are the next frontier of development. I had written to Prime Minister Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw earlier as MP, seeking approval for six new rail lines. Now, I reiterate the same. The state is fully ready to support land acquisition and other formalities,” he said.
