Says all is not well in BRS

The political storm triggered by Kavitha’s hand-written letter to KCR continues to deepen, with leaders from the Congress launching scathing attacks on the Kalvakuntla family, particularly targeting KT Rama Rao. From senior party MPs to government whips, Congress is making it clear that the contents of the leaked letter have confirmed what they’ve been alleging for months — that all is not well within the BRS.

Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy alleged that internal dissent within BRS has reached new heights. “There’s agitation inside the Kalvakuntla family due to the talk that KTR will be crowned. Kavitha and Harish Rao are reportedly unhappy, and Kavitha’s own letter shows she had no platform to speak despite being a key face,” he said. He demanded that KTR answer the points Kavitha raised — why BJP was spared criticism during the BRS plenary, and why long- time party workers are being sidelined. MP Kiran Kumar added that Kavitha’s concerns on BC census, SC categorisation and BRS allegedly aiding BJP in the Graduate MLC election were not casual observations. “She clearly said the party’s top leadership helped BJP, and that she was systematically stopped from addressing gatherings,” he said.

Government Whip Aadi Srinivas said Kavitha’s remarks have brought to light what was being said all along. “Kavitha says KCR is confined to the farmhouse. She questions why BJP was spared in the BRS plenary. She says her own father did not let others speak. When his own daughter questions him, how can the people believe KCR’s words now?” he asked.

Congress Media and Communication chairman Sama Ram Mohan Reddy echoed similar sentiments, saying the letter has pushed the Kalvakuntla family’s political future into darkness. “She exposed the silence on 42 per cent BC reservation, and directly said party leaders are blinding towards the BJP. When she says there’s a conspiracy to isolate her, it is obvious BRS is crumbling,” he observed. He urged people not to fall for BRS’s image-building and see the reality reflected in Kavitha’s words.

Meanwhile, MLC Balmoor Venkat also joined the chorus, launching a personal attack on KTR. Referring to Kavitha’s hand-written note to her father KCR as a “mirror of internal contradictions”, Venkat said the Kalvakuntla family is no longer a political unit but a “family at war.” “Every time KTR says he will question us. Today, his own sister is doing that — through a letter. Your silence on the BJP, withdrawal in MLC polls and refusal to support BC and SC measures by the Congress government have all been noted. You should first answer your sister before pointing fingers at us,” he said. Venkat dubbed the Kalvakuntla family not as a political legacy but a “kalaha kutumbam”—a family of feuds.

He warned KTR to stop preaching morality until he clarifies the doubts raised from within his own home. “When your own sister has no trust in your actions, do you have the right to critique our government? Respond to her first,” Venkat stated.
