“You can do anything as long as you have the passion, drive, focus, and support,” they say. And nothing could be more apt to explain young singer Sumanth Borra’s journey.
Ever since his childhood, music has been a huge part of his life.He had participated in several district and state-level competitions during his school days. But guess what the irony was, he never took it seriously. However, music was always a part of his life. Even during his graduation, he not only represented the cultural team but also led the South Indian teams of their college.
Before he could make his own composed songs, he says, “I started with singing covers for people to know about me. In 2016, I released my first album, Kananayka, during my graduation. Later, I worked for 4 years as a software engineer.
During this, we had COVID, and that was the time that I took it as an opportunity and once again started making covers with Aditya’s music. I wanted to make my own independent music, so my friend Venkatesh Uppala and I got together to make a project.
For this, I approached Adiya Music and we released our first song, Vishwam, in 2018. We released Ikkada Marrai Rawa in 2019, which ranked 16 on YouTube during the pandemic. And that was when we got a very good response from the industry, including Tharun Bhascker and a few of the music directors as well.”
Sumanth has been so passionate about music that he says, “I want to do anything and everything. Every time people hear my name, they should think that he can do anything with ease, not just something specific. One has to maintain proper sustainability and a proper flow in the market. I want to touch down in multiple genres and improve myself as an artist. I want to break the barrier of doing something just to earn money, and do something that’s our passion.”
Aditya Music has in fact played a major part in shaping up his career in the music industry, and he says, “Aditya Music has now become a family for me. They have been very supportive and encouraging throughout the journey. The respect that they give for independent artists and music is inexpressible. I also spoke with Madhura Sreedhar Reddy Garu, who is an advocate for Telugu and independent music.
We are soon going to tie up with Sony as well. I am not working for money but just to fill my heart with happiness through music. I am not waiting for any opportunities. Here in Texas, I have met a lot of people who are fond of music, and I am trying to support these people, fulfill their happiness, and make albums with many new people.”
The passionate musician is currently in Texas for his masters and he created a group of his own there and began jamming sessions. He is now in plans to release at least one song every month.
