Infighting in the ruling TRS party surfaced once again in Mahabubabad on Sunday. There were angry exchanges between Lok Sabha member Maloth Kavitha, who is also TRS district unit president, and MLA Bantoh Shankar Naik.
The bickering in the ruling party came to the fore in the presence of Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Minister for Women and Child Welfare Satyavathi Rathod. As there were angry exchanges between Kavitha and Shankar Naik, there was utter confusion at the meeting. The party activists seemed confused.
It all started when the Ministers, accompanied by the Lok Sabha member and the MLA, inspected the newly-constructed medical college building and TRS party office. The Minister said that the medical college and the medical college would be inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
When the TRS leaders were inspecting the TRS party office, Shankar Naik told the Minister that he had spent his money to construct the office building. Kavitha angrily asked Shankar Naidu whether the latter had spent his own money for the construction of the party office building. She said that the TRS party had released funds for the construction of the building.
As the row between Kavitha, who is also the TRS district unit president, and Shankar Naik, appeared to have been intensifying, the Ministers intervened and pacified both of them.
Earlier, the Ministers, along with local people’s representatives and officials inspected the work on the government medical college and integrated Collectorate complex.
The integrated Collectorate complex was constructed at a cost of Rs 62 crore. The establishment of medical college was estimated to cost Rs 560 core.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister would distribute forest rights certificates to tribal farmers who were eking out a living by podu farming for a long time when he visited the district, Satyavathi Rathod said.
The Ministers visited the proposed venues for the public meeting to be addressed by the Chief Minister. The TRS has been planning to mobilise 1 lakh people for the public meeting.
Apart from Kavitha and Shankar Naik, Kadiyam Srihari, Collector K Shashanka, District Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar, Zilla Parishad Chairperson A Bindhu, Municipal Chairman P Ramamohan Reddy, Roads and Buildings Superintending engineer Nagender Rao and others were present.
