In a joint effort, the veterinary team of IGZP Vizag and the Srikakulam forest division successfully rescued an injured sloth bear from Mandasa village in Srikakulam district on Saturday morning. The bear was swiftly transported to the zoo later in the afternoon and is currently being housed in the Animal Rescue Centre. Following a preliminary examination, the animal was found to have several wounds and appears to be visually impaired.

The dedicated IGZP team is closely monitoring the bear, ensuring it receives a balanced diet, appropriate veterinary treatment, and engaging in necessary enrichment activities to support its physical and mental well-being. The veterinary team is also planning to conduct further tests to assess the bear’s overall health condition.
