In the period of e-learning and advancement of technology, teachers are trying their best to bridge the gap between academics and professional jobs, especially in government schools. Teachers at several district government schools across Telangana are implementing innovative methods to make learning easier. Recognising their distinct teaching techniques and passion for teaching, two teachers from Telangana were shortlisted for the national award which will be given on September 5.
Thaduri Sampath Kumar and Prabhakar Reddy Pesara are the two teachers from Telangana out of 50  teachers who would be honoured with the awards by President Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on the occasion of Teachers Day.
Sampath Kumar, a Physics teacher at Zilla Parishad High School, Dammannapet in Sircilla district, inspired his students to become innovators via his lifetime goal mission 100. Speaking to the Pioneer Correspondent, Sampath said, “Under mission 100, my goal is to mould 100 government school students as young innovators. So far, I have moulded 53 innovators and among them, eight students bagged gold medals in international science exhibitions and over 30 students won State-level awards. It all started with me setting up an innovation idea box and asked the students to drop innovative ideas for solving problems faced by locals. With the guidance of Telangana State Innovation Cell, T-Works and T-Hub, my students could come up with several innovations.”
Similarly, adopting an experimental method of teaching has helped Prabhakar Reddy Pesara, a Biology teacher of Zilla Parishad Secondary School, Thirumalayapalem in Khammam, to be shortlisted for the national award.
Prabhakar said, “This award is in recognition of my work in implementing step method, which means teaching of the subject by experiments and projects. As Science is to learn from experimenting, if there are no experiments or physical exposure then there is no learning at all.  Along with this, I have integrated Information Communication Technology for content, so that students can easily understand the concepts.”
