Inter-State border district top officials at a meeting here on Wednesday discussed how to respond to possible threats to law and order in view of the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana.
The officers who attended the meeting were District Collectors, District Superintendents of Police from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarhi border districts. The meeting was held at the ITC guest house in Kothagudem.
The officials reportedly chalked out a strategy to prevent possible threats to law and order in the border areas during the Telangana Assembly elections. The officials discussed the prevailing situation in the border areas and stressed the need to take special steps to ensure peace.
The need to keep the activists of the Communist Party of India-Maoist, known as the Maoist party, under surveillance was stressed. They also discussed the measures to be taken to prevent the smuggling of liquor and money through border areas.
The officials decided to set up check posts in the border areas to inspect the vehicles at the entry and exit points. The officials felt that there was a need to set up a special cell to keep a vigil on drug peddlers and take stringent measures.
Bhadradri-Kothagudem District Collector Priyanka Ala, Sukuma District Collector Harish, Bhadradri-Kothagudem Superintendent of Police Vineeth G, Mulugu District Superintendent of Police Gaush Alam, Jayashankar Bhupalpally Superintendent of police P Karunakar, Bhadrachalam ITDA Project office Prateek Jain and others officials were present at the meeting.
