Jana Sena chief K Pawan Kalyan’s veiled indication that his party will align with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the future put the BJP leaders in a dilemma.Pawan Kalyan, addressing the Jana Sena Party’s 10th Formation Day meeting in Machilipatnam on March 14, announced his party would do exactly what the people wish.

A JSP leader dubbed the announcement an indication of ending ties with the BJP and aligning with the TDP.The JSP leaders feel that the AP BJP leaders’ proximity with the ruling party forced Pawan Kalyan to decide to part ways with the saffron party.JSP leaders said that Pawan Kalyan has been waiting for a long time to get a route map from the BJP high command on how to proceed in AP but he has not received that to date. JSP leaders recalled that Pawan Kalyan said that had the BJP leaders cooperated with him, the JSP-BJP alliance would have emerged as a strong force in AP.

But the BJP leaders dashed his hopes by maintaining proximity with the YSRCP. The BJP high command assured Pawan Kalyan of opposing the shifting capital city from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam but the AP BJP leaders did not show that much interest. Pawan Kalyan is also angry at four BJP leaders for their closeness to the YSRCP.

Moreover, the BJP high command agreed to the proposal of Pawan Kalyan to take out a long march opposing the shifting of the capital city to Visakhapatnam but later it changed its mind. The BJP high command did not respond on the issue and that irked Pawan Kalyan and forced him to take a firm decision on whether to continue the alliance with the BJP, a senior JSP leader said.

“Pawan Kalyan has understood that the BJP high command is not showing interest in strengthening the BJP in AP. That is why, Pawan Kalyan, addressing the public meeting, lashed out at the BJP saying it neither does anything nor allows him to do anything beneficial for the alliance,” a JSP senior leader said.

Pawan’s comments reflect how much he was vexed with the BJP leaders’ non-cooperation. “What is the use of criticising the Opposition TDP instead of opposing the antipeople’s policies of the ruling party? If the BJP leader criticises the opposition TDP that will send a wrong signal to the people. Pawan Kalyan has explained this to the BJP high command but he did not get a due response,” a JSP senior leader said.

The BJP is vehemently opposing the wrong policies of the BRS government in the Telangana State, at the same time, the BJP leaders have adopted a soft stand on the YSRCP leaders. Keeping in view the AP BJP leaders’ non-cooperation and their soft stand on the YSRCP regime, Pawan Kalyan wants to sever ties with the BJP in AP, a JSP leader felt.
