Former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been taking salary even though he was not attending the Assembly for the last 15 months, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said.
“KCR took Rs 57.87 lakh as salary in the last 15 months and attended the House just two times. I am unable to understand whether KCR is working from home. Or is he working from his farmhouse? It is shocking on the part of KCR to take salary from the exchequer without attending Assembly sessions,” the CM said.
Replying to the Motion of Thanks on the Governor’s speech on Saturday, the CM said that ever since the ‘people’s government’ came to power we are moving forward giving utmost importance and respecting all institutions. Those who claim to be seniors and have been ministers for 10 years misinterpreted the Governor’s speech. They think their ignorance is their knowledge, the CM said.
The CM said the Governor had only mentioned issues approved by the Cabinet in his speech. The Cabinet approved only issues which are being implemented and included them in the Governor’s speech, he said.
Revanth said that as the Congress Government is in power, the Governor’s speech will not be against the government’s policies. Did those who rule for 10 years include them in the Governor’s speech without Cabinet approval? They insulted the lady because as had no regard for the Governor, he said.
“This is a ‘people’s government.’ We respect the constitutional system. We take into account all issues raised by members. We have no objection to taking their suggestions. After 10 years of destruction and dictatorship, the people wanted a change. It is the reason we are here with the support of the people,” the CM said.
The CM said that 70 per cent of Telangana people depend on agriculture. Earlier, some people fought for land. Land is the basis for the self-respect of the people of Telangana, he added.
“Our government has a history of waiving loans amounting to Rs 20,624 crore and we freed farmers from debts. Our government has the credit of making farmers live with self-respect. The BRS Government stopped the release of Rythu Bandhu funds citing elections. My government released Rs 7,625 crore and deposited it within three months of coming to power. Rythu Bharosa’s benefit has been increased to Rs 12,000 per year,” he said.
The CM said that to brighten the lives of the landless poor, the government is also providing Rs 12,000 to each family under the Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa. The BRS Government did not purchase paddy saying that the government is not a trader. It also branded paddy cultivation as suicidal, he said.
“Isn’t those who claim to have fought Chandrababu who gave away 299 TMCs of water and thereby signed the death warrant of Telangana,” the CM asked.
“When we came to power, we fought for water with the Centre. Isn’t it true that KCR, who got the Union Minister post with YSR’s blessings remained silent while the Pothireddypadu capacity was enhanced? Isn’t he the one who turned the districts of Telangana into distressed migrant districts and exploited farmers? If the BRS had not cooperated would the capacity of Pothireddypadu be increased?” the CM said.

He said that KCR who agreed to take commissions given by contractors reduced the capacity of Jurala from two TMCs to one TMC and diverted water to Srisailam, which led to a situation where water could not be provided even after the project was completed.

“Isn’t it true that SLBC had to be completed in four years, but was not completed even after 10 years? Isn’t that an injustice to Nalgonda? Aren’t you the reason for the SLBC accident and the death of eight people? Why were projects under construction in the Krishna catchment area not completed in the last 10 years?” the CM said.

“The BRS left the Assembly today fearing they would have to answer our questions. KCR came to the Assembly only twice in 15 months. He is taking his salary and neglecting people. If SLBC and Dindi had been completed, wouldn’t Nalgonda’s troubles have ended? I am ready for a debate on Krishna water when KCR attends the Assembly. I am ready to prove my claims with data,” the CM said.

“If we are wrong, I am ready to apologise to BRS leaders. KCR should tell us whether he is ready for this challenge. While AP is building projects that will move 10 TMCs every day, KCR maintained silence. After an ordinary farmer went to the Green Tribunal, the BRS government was forced to implead in those cases. KCR had fish curry at YSRCP leader Roja’s residence and abandoned the Palamuru project which gave him political life. BRS leaders say the people made a mistake. What is the point of blaming the people? Isn’t your thinking about your stature more important than the future of Telangana,” the CM said.

“I made a statement that the BRS is in the mortuary. I am not so narrow-minded as to go against KCR. May KCR live for 100 years,” he said.

“KCR should be in the opposition and we would like to be the ruling party. I am ready to discuss with KCR farmers’ issues anytime. The women of Telangana treated me like their family. We provided free bus travel facilities to women. I am giving cooking gas cylinders for Rs 500 and 200 units of free power to the poor,” the CM said.
