In a long stride toward bolstering Andhra Pradesh’s burgeoning IT sector, State Industries and IT Minister, Gudivada Amarnath, voiced his optimism about the forthcoming arrival of the IT behemoth Infosys. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to inaugurate the much-anticipated Infosys office at Visakha IT SEZ Hill No. 2 on October 16. Minister Amarnath, after a thorough review of the preparations for this momentous occasion, took the opportunity to tour the sprawling Infosys premises. He used the occasion to urge Infosys officials to ensure that every detail is meticulously arranged for the Chief Minister’s interactions with Infosys employees.
Addressing a press conference at Infosys, Minister Amarnath said that enhancing Andhra Pradesh’s IT landscape has been a primary goal for the state government. He underscored the remarkable IT development in Hyderabad since the State’s bifurcation and highlighted CM Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visionary plan to elevate Visakhapatnam to similar heights in this sector.
Minister Amarnath firmly believes that this vision can be transformed into reality by having leading IT companies establish their presence in Visakhapatnam and actively contribute to the cause. He noted with enthusiasm the recent announcement by Infosys management that they will commence operations with a thousand employees in the first phase, marking a promising development for Visakhapatnam’s IT sector.
Acknowledging the government’s proactive efforts to transform Visakhapatnam into a prestigious beachfront IT hub, Minister Amarnath pointed out that numerous companies have already set up shop in the city.
Nevertheless, he opines that the arrival of an industry leader like Infosys will attract the attention of other major IT players, thus catalysing the city’s growth in the IT sector.
