Actress Kajal Aggarwal’s latest venture, Satyabhama, alongside co-star Naveen Chandra, has recently dignified the big screens, igniting a buzz among audiences and critics alike. Released on June 7, the film, directed by Suman Chikkala, has received resounding success, particularly garnering praise for Kajal’s commanding portrayal of a powerful police officer.
In an exclusive interview with us, Kajal Aggarwal, affectionately known as the ‘Queen of Masses,’ delved into her experience portraying the character of Satyabhama, shedding light on the personal resonance she found with the role. “I could relate to Satyabhama on a personal level,” Kajal shared, adding, “Just like her, I am someone who voices out her opinion and reacts to societal situations. Like everyone else, I have personal opinions about what transpires in society.”
During promotional events, Kajal was repeatedly asked about her career post-marriage and motherhood. The actress asserted the importance of maintaining a balance between personal life and career aspirations. “I fail to comprehend why a heroine’s career should undergo a transformation after marriage. Everyone has a personal life, including heroines. Fortunately, the industry has evolved, affording married actresses ample opportunities to flourish. Balancing personal and professional spheres is indeed challenging, but acting is my passion, making the endeavour worthwhile. My family’s unwavering support is paramount in navigating this journey,” she remarked.
Additionally, there’s been considerable buzz labelling this phase as Kajal’s second inning and her return to the silver screen. However, Kajal offers a nuanced viewpoint, stating, “I’ve remained active in the film industry even during the past two years of my pregnancy and the new motherhood phase. Even during my pregnancy, I continued working. I never officially took a maternity break. Three months postpartum, I resumed filming. So, this isn’t a difficult phase professionally.”
With a repertoire boasting over 60 films, Kajal expressed that Satyabhama offered a unique experience unlike any other. Satyabhama navigates through various societal themes, including youth, gaming, betting, and religion, encapsulating a diverse range of emotions. “I have portrayed many characters thus far, but this is the first time I’ve delved into an emotional action movie. While filming, I experienced emotions I had never encountered before, lending a sense of realism to the character.”
Addressing her recurring role as a police officer, Kajal expressed her delight in the positive reception to her performance, emphasising the authenticity and diligence invested in crafting the action sequences. “I even performed the action sequences myself. We dedicated ourselves to choreographing realistic action sequences. I desired action scenes that aligned with my image and felt genuine, and Subbu, our choreographer, meticulously brought that vision to life,” she affirmed.
Looking ahead, Kajal teased her involvement in Bharateeyudu 2 and the upcoming Bharateeyudu 3, where she promises to showcase a distinct and refreshing portrayal. Additionally, she revealed her commitment to two undisclosed projects, whose details will soon be announced.
