Jana Sena chief K Pawan Kalyan has alleged that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is exploiting religion for political advantage.
Pawan Kalyan met with the heads of the Christian community from combined East Godavari and West Godavari at the state office in Mangalagiri on Thursday. During this meeting, he became acquainted with the concerns of religious leaders. Addressing the gathering, Pawan Kalyan criticised Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, asserting that the Chief Minister does not adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ but manipulates religion for personal gain.
“If Jagan Mohan Reddy followed the teachings of Jesus Christ, the State would not be facing a crisis. A person who upholds humanity transcends religious boundaries. Those who cherish their faith while respecting others can truly serve the interests of the people,” remarked Pawan Kalyan.
Pawan Kalyan also highlighted the politicisation of secularism by some leaders, emphasising the societal tendency to condemn attacks on minorities while overlooking similar incidents targeting Hindus.
“Under the governance of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP, 517 temples were reportedly vandalized and desecrated in the state.
The failure to apprehend the perpetrators has led to a perception among Hindus that the Chief Minister is displaying bias towards a particular community,” criticised Pawan Kalyan.
Assuring support for Christian minorities, Pawan Kalyan pledged, “If the sentiments and fundamental rights of Christians are violated, the Jana Sena party will stand in solidarity with them.”
Pawan Kalyan accused Jagan Mohan Reddy of failing to fulfil promises, citing the example of the alleged discrepancy in disbursing honorariums to pastors. He lamented the “malicious campaign” associating him with opposition to the Christian community due to his proximity to BJP leaders.
Highlighting Jagan Mohan Reddy’s symbolic gestures, Pawan Kalyan criticized the presentation of a statuette of Lord Venkateswara to BJP leaders, arguing that it exposed the Chief Minister’s exploitation of religion for personal gain.
“I commit to refraining from exploiting religion for electoral gains. A committee will be established to address the concerns of Christians. While I have achieved some of my objectives for the state, there is much more to be done, such as our efforts to temporarily halt the privatization of the Visakha steel plant and Dredging Corporation,” affirmed Pawan Kalyan.
