‘Jagan govt’s policies hit Polavaram works’

Must read

Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan has accused the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government of implementing misguided policies that have resulted in suspending construction activities on the Polavaram project.
During an election rally in Koyyalagudem in the Polavaram constituency, Pawan Kalyan pledged to personally meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to emphasise the significance of the Polavaram project. He criticised the current administration for failing to secure funding for the project’s Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) package.
“If given the opportunity, I will advocate for financial support from Prime Minister Modi to ensure the timely completion of the Polavaram project,” Pawan Kalyan asserted, outlining his commitment to finishing the project by 2027 if his party comes into power.
Pawan Kalyan stressed the importance of the R&R package, stating that over 1.6 lakh individuals are awaiting rehabilitation, necessitating a budget of Rs 33,000 crore. He condemned the YSRCP government for allegedly exploiting the project for financial gain and criticized their lack of urgency in completing the construction.
Highlighting the sacrifices made by countless individuals who have surrendered their land for the project, Pawan Kalyan emphasized the importance of providing them with due compensation.
To address the funding shortfall, Pawan Kalyan proposed the implementation of a nominal one-paisa cess on every purchase within the state. He suggested that this measure could generate the necessary funds within six months.
Expressing apprehension about the Land Titling Act proposed by the Jagan Reddy-led government, Pawan Kalyan characterized it as a potential tool for land appropriation, dubbing it the “Jagan Land Grabbing Act.” He warned against the potential exploitation of loopholes in the legislation for the unlawful acquisition of land.
