Former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday paid tributes to his father, the late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, at YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya, marking the 75th anniversary of Dr Reddy’s birth. Joining him were his mother Vijayamma, his wife Bharathi Reddy, and leaders of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP).
Emotions ran high as Vijayamma, who had arrived at the ghat earlier to offer her respects, was moved to tears upon seeing her son, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, at the memorial. Their embrace was a poignant moment, reflecting their deep bond and shared reverence for the late leader.
This occasion marked the first public meeting between Vijayamma and YS Jagan since the recent state assembly and Lok Sabha elections. During the election period, some attempts were made to create divisions within the YSR family. Vijayamma had supported her daughter Sharmila, the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief, which led to speculation about family discord.
