APCC President Rudra Raju addressed the media at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan in Vijayawada on Wednesday.
He said that under the leadership of AICC President Mallikharjuna Kharge, APCC is trying to bring the earlier glory to the congress party in the state. After the state bifurcation, the Congress party had organized a big public meeting at the Gymkhana meeting and had evoked a good response from the public and the meeting was a success, he said.
“We conducted the meeting at the Gymkhana grounds, where the Congress party hoisted the national flag in 1921. This type of meeting will be conducted in all districts,” he said.
The Congress party had a strong vote bank in all 26 districts, and the party workers and leaders would install self-confidence among all, he said. After the completion of the Karnataka Assembly elections, the Congress party is going to organise a public meeting against the Visakha Steel Plant privatization and party senior leader Rahul Gandhi would attend the meeting, he said.
He alleged that due to mistakes made by the central government, Andhra Pradesh is in a dilemma and it would be very dangerous. He opined that unless people may not be aware, there will be no changes in politics.
Meanwhile, he faults the BJP-led central government for not giving Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh because the BJP never came into rule in the state. For that reason, the central government has changed the name of Andhra Bank and merged it with Union Bank of India, he said.
Talking about the Karnataka elections, he said the AICC has discharged the Karnataka assembly elections responsibilities to former minister and former APCC chief Dr N Raghuveera Reddy. He appealed to the Telugu people who live in Karnataka to cast their votes for the Congress party to bring it into rule.
Krishna District Congress Party President L Tantia Kumari, Vijayawada City President Naraharasetti Narasimha Rao, party leaders Dhanekula Murali Mohana Rao, Kommineni Suresh and others were present.
