Former MP and Kapu Samkshema Sena president Chegondi Hari Ramajogaiah has expressed scepticism regarding the Jana Sena Party’s decision to accept 30 MLA seats as part of an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Addressing a meeting here on Saturday, Hari Ramajogaiah noted that during the 2014 elections, the people of the State anticipated a new dynamic in state politics with the entry of Jana Sena, but the party chose not to contest. In the subsequent 2019 elections, out of the 137 Jana Sena candidates, only one emerged victorious. Now, the defeated candidates are eager to contest upcoming elections under the Jana Sena ticket.
Jogaiah highlighted widespread speculation in the State about the TDP offering a limited number of seats to the Jana Sena, which has left many aspirants disappointed.
Those who had hoped for Jana Sena’s ascent to power are disheartened by the reports.
The former MP pointed out media reports suggesting that the TDP might allocate only 15 to 25 MLA seats to the Jana Sena, with some channels speculating up to 28 seats. He also raised concerns about the perceived diminished strength of the Jana Sena, with rumours circulating that the TDP may distance itself from the alliance after winning elections.
Jogaiah warned that if Pawan Kalyan, the leader of Jana Sena, accepts the allocated seats by the TDP, it could prove detrimental to the party’s future.
Taking a critical stance, Jogaiah criticized Naidu, the leader of TDP, for announcing Araku and Mandapeta seats for TDP candidates without adhering to alliance principles. In response, Pawan Kalyan announced Razole and Rajapataram seats for Jana Sena candidates.
According to Jogaiah’s analysis, in the 2019 elections, 60 Jana Sena candidates secured over 10,000 votes in Assembly constituencies, and six Lok Sabha candidates also achieved the same feat. He suggested that the Jana Sena should be allocated 50 MLA seats and six Lok Sabha seats, given the strength of their candidates in those areas, facilitating effective vote-sharing.
