In a scathing attack, Minister Gudivada Amarnath has accused Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan of being a political opportunist and a subservient follower of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. The Minister claimed that Pawan’s brand of politics is nothing but a carefully packaged facade and has already been co-opted by the TDP. He further termed Pawan a figure lacking in principles, coherent policies, and the steadfastness necessary for effective political leadership.

Minister Amarnath also insinuated that Pawan’s motivations were rooted in envy towards Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, suggesting that his support for the TDP was a calculated move to undermine the ruling YSRCP, a feat he envisions as a personal triumph.
Speaking to the press on Friday, Minister Amarnath lambasted Pawan’s attempts to establish himself as a political leader merely through staged public appearances and his association with the film industry. The Minister emphasized that while Pawan might be a cinematic hero, his real-life qualifications for leadership and statesmanship were woefully inadequate.

He went on to express a sense of pity for Pawan’s perceived subservience to TDP’s agenda, asserting that Pawan’s actions appeared to be scripted by the TDP.

Pawan Kalyan entered the political arena 15 years ago under the banner of Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party. Assuming the role of Yuva Rajyam president, Pawan embarked on his political journey without a clear ideology or consistent approach. Minister Amarnath highlighted that over the years, Janasena Party has entered into alliances with multiple political entities, ultimately aligning with the BJP after a brief hiatus following the 2019 elections.

Minister Amarnath went on to criticise Pawan’s current political associations, calling his relationship with the BJP an opportunistic alliance and likening his rapport with the opposition TDP to a “live-in relation.” The Minister drew inspiration from poet Vemana’s verses to further underscore his criticism of Pawan.

In a piece of advice to Pawan Kalyan, Minister Amarnath recommended that he take Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as a role model instead of harbouring feelings of jealousy. The Minister lauded CM Jagan’s entry into politics at a young age and highlighted his resilience in achieving a sweeping victory of 151 seats in the 2019 elections.

Taking aim at Jana Sena Party’s political prospects, Minister Amarnath underscored the party’s inability to field candidates across all 175 constituencies in Andhra Pradesh. He also questioned Pawan’s claims of having influential ties with the central government, asserting that the party has failed to address critical issues such as the privatisation of the Vizag Steel Plant or secure tangible benefits from the BJP-led central administration.

The Minister concluded by reiterating the YSRCP government’s unwavering commitment to uplifting the economically disadvantaged, citing the distribution of over Rs 2.31 lakh crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) initiatives aimed at reaching eligible beneficiaries.
