A day after MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha got notices from the CBI on the Delhi liquor scam; the TRS MLC virtually put the ball in CBI’s court by seeking copies of the complaint and the FIR based on which she had been served summons.
In her letter to Alok Kumar Shahi, a Deputy Supdt. of Police of the CBI’s ACB wing, in New Delhi she said, “I have gone through the notice. I request you to provide me copies of the Complaint vide OM No.14035/06/2022-Delhi, dated 22/07/22 received from Praveen Kumar Roy of Union MHA and RC 53(0)/2022 of CBI/ACB/Delhi referred to in your notice.”
She said that the requested documents should be provided as fast as possible to enable her to acquaint herself with the matter and answer appropriately within a reasonable period of time. “The day of our meeting can be decided at Hyderabad after receiving the documents,” the letter read.
Kavitha was summoned by the CBI and a notice as per Cr.PC Section 160 was issued to her regarding allegations pertaining to the excise policy of of Delhi for 2021-22.The CBI asked Kavitha to intimate the place of residence (Hyderabad or preferably Delhi) as per her convenience for questioning at 11 am on December 6 in connection with the investigation into the Delhi liquor scam.
Kavitha in a statement said, “I’ve been issued a CBI notice under Section 160 of Cr.PC. I have informed the authorities, that I can meet them at my residence in Hyderabad on Dec 6 as per their request.”
However, after deliberations with her father KCR at the Pragathi Bhavan, Kavitha wrote to the CBI asking for details.It may be mentioned here that KCR is going all out to take on the BJP regarding politically motivated raids. Sources said that the best lawyers and legal experts will be consulted.
“Even in the poaching of MLAs case senior advocate Dushyant Dave is arguing for the state government. Obviously the best lawyers are being roped in. When the SIT issued notices to BL Santhosh, the BJP has been knocking on the doors of courts and even brought in people like Mahesh Jethmalani. So all available legal options will be considered,” sources said.
