BRS MLC Kavitha is reclaiming her place in Telangana’s political landscape after emerging from a challenging phase marked by her 170-day stint as a prisoner in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
She is learnt to have come up with renewed determination to address critical issues affecting the state. Doing away with the convention of talking about her jail life and the pain she endured at the Tihar Jail, Kavitha is avoiding sympathy.
Many politicians like Chief Minister Revanth Reddy often speak about their trauma in interviews and let the public know about that but so far Kavitha has kept her jail phase under wraps.
Through Council debates, public meetings and strategic initiatives, she has reminded her adversaries that her fight for justice and identity is far from over and that it is gaining momentum.
Kavitha wasted no time in reviving Telangana Jagruthi, an organisation she established as a symbol of cultural identity.
Defending Telangana’s cultural heritage, Kavitha stood firm when the Telangana Talli statue was allegedly disrespected, asserting that the state’s soul must be preserved intact.
She is taking on the Congress Government head-on by laying the foundation stone for installing a Telangana Talli statue in Jagital defying government orders.
Soon after becoming active, her focus has been on empowering marginalized communities, particularly the Backward Classes, by pushing for the implementation of the Kamareddy Declaration’s promise of 42% reservations in local bodies. The detailed report submitted to the BC Commission showcases her seriousness, said sources.
In the Legislative Council, Kavitha drew public attention to the inefficiencies in the way the Congress Government is handling the Musi River Beautification Project, including the lack of transparency over loans sought from the World Bank.
Her legislative interventions have forced the government to address accountability issues, reflecting her renewed vigour on the political stage.
Kavitha also amplified her advocacy for women’s safety and dignity, with her stand on the Women’s Reservation Bill and her grassroots engagement to highlight her commitment to meaningful change.
Sources said that Kavitha’s return is not merely a comeback, it is a statement of resilience and renewed purpose.
