Civil rights activist Prof. Haragopal said that the KCR government destroyed the education system in Telangana. He said that the entire education system including school and higher education is off the rails now. The Chief Minister has forgotten about his free KG to PG education promise.
Participating in a programme organised by the Committee for the Protection of Education at Sundaraiah Vignana Bhavan on Saturday, Prof. Haragopal said that KCR has no time to hold a review of the education system.
The KCR government is not allocating adequate funds for education. The funds allocated for education are very less in Telangana, Prof. Haragopal said.
Telangana went back for 20 to 30 years in education, Prof. Haragopal said and added that a decade is needed to get the education system on its feet once again.
There is no certainty that Professors will be available in universities in coming days, he said. One can understand how the situation is as the CM has no time to appoint Vice-Chancellors for universities, he said.
Prof. Haragopal said that using UAPA against those who oppose the government is unjustifiable and that the government is keeping persons who challenge it in jails.
UAPA is against the spirit of the Constitution, he said.
He said the government has filed cases against 400 persons under UAPA. He wondered why the government is not explaining why it is filing so many UAPA cases.
He asked the government why it filed a case against Justice Suresh who delivered very good judgements under UAPA. Prof Haragopal warned that the BRS government will face trouble in the next elections in case it fails to stop using UAPA.
