Declaring that the Congress is not against the installation of the 125-feet Ambedkar statue, TPCC Senior Vice-President Dr Mallu Ravi said they were condemning only the comments of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao that he will rewrite the Constitution framed by Dr BR Ambedkar.

Addressing the media on Saturday at Gandhi Bhavan, Mallu Ravi said that the Constitution states that India is one family. The Congress appointed the Constitution Committee with Ambedkar as its chairman to frame the Constitution and to provide reservations.

He demanded that the BRS government should reveal how much SC and ST sub-plan funds it spent after the formation of Telangana state and how much funds it is carrying forwarded.

Pointing out that KCR installed the Ambedkar statue with public funds and not with his own money, Mallu Ravi said that KCR is anti-Dalit and had set up a private university and had handed it over to BRS leaders.

“Dalits have been denied the opportunity to study in those private universities,” he said.

Mallu Ravi said that there were two lakh vacant posts in state service and that Dalits must get 22 per cent of them.

“I don’t agree with Prakash Ambedkar’s argument that KCR became good just because he installed Ambedkar’s statue,” he said.

“We are descendants of Ambedkar and his ideals. Prakash should speak about KCR’s unjust acts against Dalits. You were praising KCR, you should clarify on it,” he said.
