KCR poised to pull off a hat trick

Regardless of the headwinds, TRS supremo K. Chandrasekhar Rao is poised to pull off a hat-trick for the TRS in the next Assembly elections.The TRS can win 59 Assembly seats out of a total of 119, should elections be held now, says a state-wide opinion poll conducted by Swatantra TV.

The results of the survey titled ‘Telangana Naadi’ (Pulse of Telangana), which was conducted in November covering 119 constituencies in 33 districts with a sample size of around 1 lakh, were telecast on Swatantra TV on Thursday.

The survey says that the Congress will win 31 seats, the BJP 16 seats, and the AIMIM seven seats. There is a tough contest for six seats among the TRS, the BJP and the Congress.The survey reveals that people definitely want Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, though they are somewhat upset with his MLAs. Voters have sent clear signals that they want changes in the way the party has been functioning with regard to welfare schemes, approaches of MLAs, and development in constituencies.

The survey found that 48% of Telangana is with the TRS, 28% with the Congress, 18% with the BJP and six per cent with the AIMIM and other parties. Competition is tough in Khammam, Karimnagar, and Rangareddy districts, says the survey. In Pinapaka, Korutla and Jagityal, there is a tough fight between the TRS and the Congress. In Medchal, Uppal and Serilingampalli, there is a tough fight between the TRS and the BJP. The Congress, which had got 19 seats in 2018, lost Huzurnagar and Munugode  as well as 12 of its MLAs to the TRS later. However, the survey says the Congress is likely to win 31 seats. The BJP, which won only one seat in 2018 and later won two seats in by-polls, is likely to win 16 seats. The BJP has strengthened its presence in Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar, Rangareddy and Warangal districts.
