Announces Rs 7 crore for Thimmapur temple

PNS|Hyderabad

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has announced that Rs50crore would be spent for developing the Banswada constituency.

During his visit to the constituency, the Chief Minister said: “Sanctioning Rs 7 crore rupees today to complete the developmental works of this holy Timmapur Temple to meet the comprehensive needs of people. Due to my admiration for Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, I am announcing this Rs. 7 crore and additionally sanction Rs 50 crore from the CM Special Development Fund to the Banswada constituency”.

KCRvisited the constituency to participate in the Kalyanotsavam of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy, organised as part of the Brahmotsavams at Timmapur, popularly known as ‘Telangana Tirumala’, in Birkur mandal of the Banswada constituency. The festivities concluded on a grand note.

On invitation from State Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, the Chief Minister and wife Shobha left Hyderabad on Wednesday morning by air to participate in the Kalyanotsavam of Venkateswara Swami and Sridevi and Bhudevi.

The couple presented a two-kg gold crown made by the family of Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy to Lord Venkateswara Swamy.

The Chief Minister said: “Timmapur Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy Temple used to be a nondescript temple when he came here. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, along with his friends, completed this promising task. The temple turned out to be better and more famous than what they expected. As it is said:’Man proposes, God disposes’; God has mercy on Srinivas Reddy and Banswada. So, he called me and made me serve the God”.

KCR said that Singuru project was one of the main reasons that inspired him to take up the Telangana movement for a separate Telangana state. He was all praise for Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy.

KCR said, “When Telangana was part of the state of Hyderabad, the Devunur project was started with a capacity of 50 TMC connecting with Nizamsagar on the Manjira river. After the formation of Andhra Pradesh state, its capacity was reduced to 30 TMC and the Singur project was constructed. People of Nizamabad came to attend the foundation stone laying for the Singur project on the border of Medak-Nizamabad with the hope that they would get more benefit from this project. In the name of providing fresh water from Singur to Hyderabad, the rulers in the erstwhile United AP did not provide irrigation even when the crops dried up in Nizamabad. MLAs fought for water in every farming season. I felt it was a terrible problem that even Ghanpur Ayacut, which is dependent on Singur, was not given water. I saw many such scenes. We could not find a solution to this problem. Even after talking to the Chief Ministers and seniors, they talked with disdain and did not resolve it.”

KCR said Pocharam Srinivas Reddy was a man who ignored his status and constantly worked to meet the needs of people of his constituency Banswada with humility and loyalty. “Srinivas Reddy has great interest in the development of agriculture. The Speaker said that crops worth Rs 1,500 crore rupees were being cultivated in the Banswada area alone. I request Pocharam Srinivas Reddy to continue public service, regardless of age”.

KCR said, “The Kaleshwaram project was not built in haste. Nizamsagar is always filled with the canal coming from Mallanna Sagar. It is always green. With the grace of Lord Venkateswara and the funds provided by the government, I wish this area to develop further”.
