Bharat Rashtra Samiti leaders, who are largely confined to constituencies these days, are focused on getting members from other parties to join BRS.

Surprisingly, party leaders are now after karyakartas, especially important followers of opposition leaders, sarpanches, ZPTC members, MPTC members and those who hold positions.

A BRS legislator said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had asked them to focus on followers of leaders of other parties for getting them to join BRS, if they want to win. Sources said, while BRS currently has a threat of too many leaders in each constituency, the cadre are always important.

However, trying to protect their own cadre while attracting new followers has become a headache for BRS leaders.

Sources said that two prominent followers of a city-based Minister are likely to switch allegiance to Congress. Sources said, “There is competition going on in joinings of cadre between Congress and BRS at the ground level.

When important followers who can influence people to vote, join; even if it is 100 or 1,000votes, they come in handy during elections time.

Joinings during election time may not show as much impact as it would now.

They can easily take our welfare schemes to people.

These people don’t aspire for posts either”.Almost all constituencies are witnessing joinings. BRS is focussing on Congress cadre largely.

On Saturday, senior leaders of Nizamabad District Congress Party from Balkonda constituency, former district vice president Thigala Santosh and his followers joined BRS party in Hyderabad on Saturday in the presence of State Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prashant Reddy. Last week there were joinings in Wanaparthy from Congress in the presence of Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy.
