Khammam worst hit in State Fire dept rescues 1,639 from floods

As heavy rains battered the State, many houses were inundated. Though there was heavy rain day and night, The Telangana Disaster Response and Fire Services Department (TGDRFS) has rescued 1,639 people from floods in the State in the last three days in Telangana.
The TGDRFS on Tuesday mentioned that the department rescued 878 people on Sunday and 761 people on Monday. A total of three bodies were retrieved from the floods. An official said that only in the Khammam range, the department rescued 1,662 people from the floods. In all, 11 boats with 100 crew members including officers from Hyderabad, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, Sangareddy, Hanamkonda are working in Khammam.
Director General of the TGDRFS Y Nagi Reddy said that the department has relentlessly worked during the floods. “The department has deployed 1,500 officers to rescue people. They are working round the clock on the mission.” When 100 people were trapped in the floods in Mahabubnagar district, the officials shifted them to a safe place. In all, 150 persons were rescued from floods to Jampanna Vagu in Mulugu district.
Under the Kodad fire station limits in Suryapet district, houses and schools were inundated. The officials rescued more than 160 residents and 300 Gurukul students.
The officials have rescued the people with the help of boats, ropes and other new technology instruments.
