Kishan criticises KCR for imposing conditions on media

Must read

Pointing out that it is not proper for the BRS government to impose conditions on some media houses during the inauguration of the secretariat, Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao used the services of the same media houses during the Telangana movement.

He said that it is not right on the part of the CM to impose conditions on those media houses now. He said that the CM has been ruling the state like the Nizam.

Kishan took part in the ‘Mann Ki Baath’ programme at Sanath Nagar on Sunday. Speaking to the media, he regretted that the government had banned some newspapers and television channels which have the right to criticize the policies of the government in a democratic set-up. He said that KCR had banned some media houses in the past too.

Kishan asked the CM how far suppressing public protests and the freedom of the press is justified. He said that KCR ruled the state from 2016 without coming to the Secretariat and that the Chief Minister did not give double-bedroom houses to the poor even though he had promised it. But the Chief Minister constructed a new Secretariat in two years, he said.
