The Telangana unit of the BharatiyaJanata Party has sought the support of the Jana Sena Party for the upcoming Assembly elections. Party leaders, including TS unit president G Kishan Reddy and Rajya Sabha member Dr K Laxman met Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday at the latter’s party office in this connection. However, Pawan Kalyan told the BJP leaders that he would take a call in a day or two.
Jana Sena leaders, at an intra-party meeting, opined that the party, which had refrained from contesting elections in 2018 and had withdrawn from the contest during the GHMC election, must surely contest the upcoming Assembly elections. They said that they had been waiting for this opportunity for long and asserted that it would not be possible for them to go to the people again if the partyfailed to contest the upcoming elections. The cadre would be disappointed, should they be asked to stay away from elections again. Reacting to the Telangana leaders’ opinion, Pawan Kalyan said that he could understand their feelings and had read the situation at the field level. Despite the pressure on him from the BJP, he would consider the opinions of leaders, prajasainiks and veeravanithas, he said. He urged them to wait for a couple of days in this regard.
