Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy said that the Centre is on a mission to impart right skilling among job-seekers in the country, as he inaugurated the two-day Kaushal Mahotsav, a Job Mela organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at the National Skill Training Institute in Vidyanagar, on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister Kishan Reddy highlighted the significance of the mega job fair ‘Kaushal Mahotsav’ as a unique example of a public-private partnership that offers employability and job opportunities to unemployed youth. He emphasised that the Central Government has taken various measures to enhance the skills of job-seekers in numerous disciplines, and the purpose of this initiative is to provide employment opportunities to the youth. The Minister further stated that efforts will continue to be made to increase people’s skills and provide employment across all sectors in the future.
The students who successfully clear the recruitment drive will receive offer letters on Sunday from the Union Minister.
Pangkhuri Borgohain, General Manager of Industry Collaboration at NSDC, expressed immense pride in organising this extensive recruitment drive and witnessing the enthusiasm of India’s younger generation. The overwhelming response received at Kaushal Mahotsav reaffirms the commitment to make India a global hub for skills. With over 13,000 registrations received so far, the aim is to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting regional employment and empowering the youth. This collaborative effort will accelerate economic growth and development in the state, Borgohain added.
The mega job fair witnessed the participation of more than 100 companies offering jobs across 450 job roles in 24 sectors, including automotive, logistics, production, electronics, apparel, and tourism. Prominent organisations such as Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd Auto Division, Parle Agro, ICICI Bank Services Limited, Johnson Lifts and Sodexo were present at the event. Multiple Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), staffing organisations, and employers also participated. The job fair attracted more than 150 employers and over 3,500 job-seekers.
