The district-level ” training programme aimed at empowering adolescent girls was inaugurated at the Prakash Nagar Dharma Chara Community Hall here on Saturday. The event witnessed participation from prominent dignitaries, including District Principal Judge Gandham Sunitha, District Collector P Prasanti, and SP D Narasimha Kishore.
In her address, Principal Judge Gandham Sunitha highlighted the programme’s role in educating girls about their constitutional rights and responsibilities. She stressed the importance of creating awareness about legal and welfare initiatives for women, especially for those from poor backgrounds. She assured that the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) would ensure access to appropriate legal aid for those in need.
Collector P Prasanti emphasised the programme’s potential to lay a foundation for a bright and healthy future for adolescent girls. She urged officials to work collaboratively to make the initiative successful, ensuring the holistic development and economic independence of young women.
SP D Narasimha Kishore noted the importance of equipping adolescent girls with the awareness to avoid exploitation. He also detailed the district’s “Mahila Rakshak” initiative, which provides robust support for women and has received a positive response.

Training sessions will educate girls on recognising “good touch” and “bad touch” and instil confidence and courage. The training will also engage village-level groups, each comprising 10 to 15 girls, guided by master trainers. Weekly reviews of issues reported through the grievance redressal system (PGRS) will be coordinated with the police for swift resolution.
Officials, including DLSA secretary K Prakash Babu, ICDS Project Officer K Vijayalakshmi, DEO K Vasudev Rao, and DMHO Dr K. Venkateswara Rao, shared insights on the initiative. The event also saw active participation from ICDS officers, child protection officials, students, and women from across the district.
