The TDP has suffered a big blow in Vijayawada, as its young corporator and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani)’s daughter Kesineni Swetha tendered resignation on Monday.
The recent developments in the party have led to the resignation of 11th division corporator Swetha. She submitted her resignation to Mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi along with former Deputy Mayor Gogula Venkata Ramana Rao and other followers.
MP Nani was dissatisfied with the recent decision of party national president and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the leadership in NTR district. The party wants to project Nani’s brother Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) in Vijayawada constituency and instructed Nani to stay away from party activities. In this context, Nani and his followers are angry at the party leadership.
Subsequently, Kesineni Nani announced that he would tender his resignation as MP and party member. He said that he would announce his plan of action soon after talking with his followers. Following the direction of his father, Swetha resigned from the corporator post.
Prior to tendering her resignation, Swetha met with Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rama Mohan Rao and Krishna ZP former Chairperson Gadde Anuradha in Vijayawada. After the meeting, Swetha directly went to the VMC office and submitted her resignation to the Mayor.
Speaking to the media, Swetha said that his father Nani was facing troubles from three leaders in Vijayawada. A future action plan will be announced later, she said.
“TDP is not willing to avail of our services. So, it is not correct to continue in the party further. After my father and MP Kesineni Nani tenders resignation from his MP post and holds discussions with the party leaders and cadres, we will take a further decision. We are not ready to work in a party where there is no respect. Kesineni Nani and I will fight on behalf of the people in Vijayawada,” Swetha said.
Further, she stated that after the YSRCP government in the State, they contested the municipal elections as they knew there was a threat to their lives. However, the TDP has not recognised their courage and commitment towards the people. After the municipal elections, she and MP Nani faced humiliation, she added.
