Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that he would do his best to make Nalgonda a model district in the state.
As part of the Vinayaka Navaratri celebrations, he flagged off the Ganesh procession by performing special pujas at the first Vinayaka idol at Hanuman Nagar in Nalgonda on Monday.
The Minister appealed to people of Nalgonda district to organise Ganesh immersion in a peaceful manner. Nalgonda district has been a symbol of communal harmony and not a single incident has taken place in the district in the last 30 years. He called upon the Ganesh Utsav Committees and the youth to celebrate Vinayaka Nimajjanam peacefully this year as in the past.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Ganesh procession should be celebrated throughout the district and immersion should be done without any hindrance. The minister said that all religions are given equal importance in the district and as part of this, the Idgah has already been developed and will be further developed in the future, as well as the Anjaneya Swamy temple.
He said that he is trying his best to make Nalgonda district a model district in the state, especially the work of six-lane Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore will beging soon. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation stone.
Underground drainage and cement concrete roads will be completed in two years. He said that 50 acres of land belonging to the Housing Board has been acquired to build houses for the poor and work on an integrated hostel in another 25 acres at a cost of Rs 80 crore will be launched soon.
District Collector C Narayana Reddy said that all necessary arrangements have been made for the peaceful conduct of Ganesh immersion. He also asked the festival committees, officials and youth to ensure that there are no problems and untoward incidents during the immersion throughout the district.
District Superintendent of Police Sarat Chandra Pawar said that 600 policemen, officers and staff were deployed in Nalgonda district to ensure peaceful immersion of idols
Municipal Vice Chairman, Abbagoni Ramesh Goud, DSP Sivaram Reddy, RDO Ravi, Municipal Commissioner Musab Ahmed, Tehsildar Srinivas, members of Ganesh Utsava Samiti and others were present.
