District Collector AS Dinesh Kumar, along with MLA Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, inaugurated ‘Jagananna Kreeda Sambaralu’ in the mini-stadium here on Monday. The event will be conclude on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the government is giving high priority to the development of sports.
The Collector said that there are a large number of talented athletes in the district, especially in the western region. He underlined the need of building stadiums with all facilities. He exhorted the players to avail the incentives being given by the government to excel in sports. He advised the players to accept victory and defeat equally and take sports as an inspiration and rise to a higher position in real life. Balineni Srinivas Reddy said that the state government is organizing sports competitions from the field level to identify the talent of sportspersons.
He wished that the sports persons participating from all the constituencies in these competitions organized at the district level should excel with better talent and bring recognition to the district by participating in the state level competitions.
Mayor Gangada Sujata exhorted the players to give importance to sports as well as education. STEP CEO Babu Rao, district sports authority chief coach Rajarajeswari, retired IPS officer Kakumanu Rajasikhamani and municipal commissioner Venkateswera Rao were among those who were present.
