Minister for Information Technology KT Rama Rao on Tuesday hinted that the State government would launch financial assistance scheme for the welfare of scheduled tribes and tribal communities.
Speaking at a function, shortly after distributing BC Bandhu cheques to 600 beneficiaries, belonging to Backward Classes, the Minister came down heavily on the Congress by saying that the successive Congress governments had failed to ensure the welfare of people though it was in power for over 50 years. He cautioned the people against falling prey to false promises. He also cautioned the people against the bid to divide in the name of caste and religion.
He asserted that he would not distribute money and liquor to win an election. He believed in people’s power. He would win the election with the blessings of the people. He assured the people that he would show discrimination on the ground of caste and religion.
He described the BRS rule under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao as a golden era. The State government implemented several welfare programmes for the benefit of the poor. The Chief Minister introduced Dalit Bandhu for the empowerment of Dalits. Moreover, under the scheme, many Dalits are becoming rich.
The State government introduced Rs 1 lakh grant for people depending on caste-based professions among the BCs. Out of 10,000 applications received for the grant, upon scrutiny, 600 were finalised, he said.
Institutional deliveries have increased in Government Hospitals by 70%.
