As the BRS gears up for its silver jubilee meeting in Warangal, party Working President KT Rama Rao questioned the timing of releasing the NDSA report on the Kaleshwaram Project.

“Why did they wait for four months? It’s a calculated attempt to distract public attention before our silver jubilee celebrations,” he said.

Reacting to the controversy over the safety of Kaleshwaram Barrages, KTR said that the released report was not from the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), but a ‘politically driven’ document prepared by the NDA Government.

“Where is the NDSA report on the SLBC tunnel inspection or Sunikshala? Why is it silent now? This report was cooked up to target KCR,” he claimed.
KTR launched a broadside against

the Congress, the BJP and other parties who claim to be cadre-based, saying that the BRS is electorally stronger than most of them even today.

“Some call themselves cadre-based parties, but did they ever win elections without piggybacking on allies?” he asked, adding, “Cadre alone won’t guarantee you a victory. What matters is perception, trend and the public mood.”

He pointed out that the BRS has lost only once in two decades. “If you compare our track record, we are far ahead of most who boast about their cadres. Yes, we failed in our first attempt to enter national politics. But with the same name, we got nearly 37 per cent votes. It was a loss by a whisker, but still a loss. The BRS is and will always remain a Telangana party,” KTR said.

On future political alignments, KTR said that if the national mood tilts towards coalition politics, “Why should the BRS lose out? So saying that renaming affected us is not correct.”

Sharpening his attack on the AIMIM, KTR said, “The AIMIM is now with the Congress.”

Targeting the Congress, he said, “Are you a political party or a circus troupe? Why do you make promises you know you can’t fulfil?”

On questions about KCR’s absence from the Assembly, KTR said, “Why should KCR attend? NTR, Jayalalithaa and Karunanidhi never attended the Assemblies regularly. Now social media tries to dictate constitutional norms.”

Coming down heavily on what he described as administrative overreach, KTR said, “Shikha Goel seems to have just one job, that is, filing cases. Three police officers are building villas, but no questions asked. But our cadres are targeted.”

Regarding the case against Smita Sabharwal for reposting material on HCU, KTR said, “She is an IAS officer. She will manage herself. But what about our cadres who are being harassed?”

He ended with a sharp summary of the current Congress rule: “This admin runs on deception, distraction and destruction. As for Group-I services, let the High Court decide. We are ready to fight politically and legally.”
