Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K Taraka Rama Rao unveiled the book ‘Meka Batuku’ by Swarna Kilari at a book launch event organised at Prasad Labs on Sunday. KTR said, “I myself went to Dubai and saw the hardships of the workers in the labour camp there. Hearing and seeing the hardships of the Gulf workers is heartbreaking. It is sad to see the conditions they are living in there. In the past we tried to make a policy for them by making some effort through the company TomCom but much more efforts are needed. Migration is as real as it is. Extortion in migration is just as real. Be it Dubai or Hyderabad or anywhere else.” He also said that he paid a visit to the prison in Dubai for Peddur migrant workers and they came together. “After many attempts to free them, we finally managed to bring them to India after years. In the past, when Sushma Swaraj was the Minister of External Affairs, there was a discussion about the invasion of women from Telugu states to the Gulf, and the governments should take a decision to stop it.”
“Once upon a time there was migration from Palamuru district where the country was built. Today, many people are migrating to Telangana from rural areas to Hyderabad in many fields. Currently, the habit of reading is decreasing in society. It is heartening that the Anviksha organisation has brought out this book. There is a need to give more support to literature that can bring dynamism and change in society. In this direction, more efforts should be made through audio books through digital media along with book publications.”
