Kukatpally to get theme park worth Rs 2 crore

Must read

An environmental theme park will be set up in Kukatpally at a cost of Rs 2 crore. Eco-friendly waste disposal mechanisms  will  be the centre of attraction at the facility.

Speaking of the park, Kukatpally Zonal Commissioner V Mamatha said, “The Environmental Park is designed with the intention of bringing sensitivity towards nature around us. Waste generation can neither be stopped nor reduced. The only option is to use scientific methods and eco-friendly disposal. This facility displays a few such waste disposal techniques with informative boards, documentaries, and working models.”

The park will have facilities including rain-water harvesting  for naturally raising the ground water table; organic waste converter for converting wet waste into manure; incinerator: scientific disposal of sanitary napkins and diapers; shredder: to reduce the volume of waste; pyrolysis model: to convert multi-layered or  dead plastic to useful fuel like diesel; vayu jal: converting humidity in the air to drinkable water and permaculture.

Permaculture is an approach to land management and settlement design that adopts arrangements observed in flourishing natural ecosystems. It includes a set of design principles derived using whole-systems thinking. It applies these principles in fields such as regenerative agriculture, town planning, rewinding and community resilience. Permaculture originates from ‘permanent agriculture’. The park could also serve as a centre for field trips for students.
