Responding to the Congress’s silence over an alliance with them, the Communists made it clear on Sunday that they will contest along with the Congress only if there is an alliance.

CPI General Secretary Dr K. Narayana said that they will contest in 20 Assembly constituencies where they are strong. The CPM would contest where they are strong, Narayana said. He said that alliances at the national level are different from state-level alliances.

Narayana said that BRS Chief KCR changed his policy fearing that his daughter BRS MLC Kavitha may get arrested in the Delhi liquor scam case.

He said that there is no need for Communists to enter into an alliance with the BRS and that the BRS and the AIMIM are working for the BJP.

Former CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy revealed that they had informed the Congress what they had told the BRS regarding alliances.

Chada Venkat Reddy said that they will field candidates in 33 constituencies where they are strong.

However, it is learnt that the Congress and the Left are holding talks secretly due to the prevailing political circumstances in and outside the state to avoid all potential problems.
