With the elections round the corner, Let’s Vote, a non-profit organization, in collaboration with the Chief Electoral Office, Telangana, has organised a 5K Electoral Awareness Walkathon to promote voters’ awareness on Saturday at Gachibowli Stadium.
The event has witnessed over 2,000+ participants, including city residents, IT professionals and first-time voters, to invigorate the democratic spirit as the State of Telangana heads towards elections on November 30.
Prior to the pledge, the participants have taken part in the Zumba dance with tremendous zeal as a warm-up to the walkathon. The walkathon was flagged off by  Vikas Raj, Chief Electoral Officer of the State, along with  Anjani Kumar, DGP, Telangana and Sarfaraz Ahmad, Joint Chief Electoral Officer. Vikas Raj said, “LetsVote Walkathon serves as a pivotal platform to emphasise the importance of active participation in the democratic process. It is a collective responsibility to exercise our right to vote and shape the future of our nation. Your vote makes a difference and it is our duty to vote.” He also stated that great effort has been made to ensure safe and fair voting and he urged each and everyone to participate in this festival of democracy as responsible citizens on November 30.
Anjani Kumar, DGP, said, “By participating in this LetsVote Walkathon, we have demonstrated our commitment to nation-building and State-building. When we vote we also show a path to our children to take care of our country. Election is the greatest festival of democracy, let us participate with full devotion and joy.”
Prof Subbarangaiah, National Convenor, LetsVote, said, “Today’s event symbolises the unity and collective strength of our community in advocating for an informed electorate. Through this walkathon, we aim to inspire and educate participants about their role in shaping the democratic landscape.”
