Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh has sharply criticised the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) for spreading false allegations against the State government. He refuted claims that the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh was responsible for the recent floods, which have affected lakhs of families. Lokesh accused the YSRCP of trying to divert public attention from their own misdeeds by blaming the government for the disaster.
In a series of posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Lokesh alleged that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had conspired to endanger lakhs of lives by attempting to damage the Prakasam Barrage. He claimed that during YSRCP’s rule, Jagan had devised a plan to ensure the collapse of the Annamayya dam, which led to the deaths of 50 people and the destruction of five villages, supposedly to benefit his illegal sand mafia.
The minister further claimed that a similar plot was in place for the Prakasam Barrage. According to Lokesh, the barrage was deliberately struck by large boats to cause damage, which would result in villages and islands downstream being washed away.
Lokesh also accused Jagan of masterminding the plan, with YSRCP MLC Talasila Raghuram and former MP Nandigam Suresh executing the conspiracy.
