Minister for Prohibition and Excise V Srinivas Goud has maintained that he contested elections from Mahabubnagar seat, leaving the seats in Hyderabad where election victory is facile. He contested from Mahabubanaagar with the objective of developing the native town.

He went nostalgic at the get-together arranged with friends of 1985-88 batch degree class of the local MVS Degree College, held here on Sunday. He went down the memory lane spending gala time, taking time out of his busy schedule, with his college friends. He felt bad as Telangana employees and officials were discriminated against during the movement for Telangana.

Employment, founding of TGO, Telangana struggle, working shoulder to shoulder with KCR, statehood to Telangana, electing as MLA and subsequently becoming Minister took place automatically, he recalled. “I never dreamt of venturing into politics, but I feel happy to get an opportunity to serve the people,” he said.

Even though there was not a soul in the family who at least held the post of a sarpanch and there was no godfather for him to support him in politics, he rose to the present position due to the support of the people of Mahabubnagar, he said. He expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his support to him.

His job is to achieve unprecedented development of Mahabubnagar, he said, adding that his goal is to get the Palamuru-Rangareddy LI Scheme completed as early as possible to turn the parched lands in the district into fertile soil.

DMHO Srinivas, Narayanapeta RDO Ramchander, PRTU district president and secretary Narayana Reddy and Raghuram Reddy and others took part in the get-together.
