MAKING ABILASA WORK IN REMOTE AREAS

At a time when many Integrated Tribal Development Agencies (ITDAs) have failed to deliver the goods, District Collector Nishnat Kumar has transformed Parvathipuram Manyam District with ‘Accessible books initiative for books learning and social advancement’ (ABILASA), which is designed to equip tribal youth for taking competitive examinations. Under ‘ABILASA’, 97 community libraries are functioning at the Grama secretariat level. They have distributed 12,804 books, bring light and hopes to youth who may otherwise wallow in darkness, dirt, and squalor for the rest of their lives.
