Any woman requires just an opportunity, and they will show how far they can fly and how they can achieve greater heights in the sky. Today, we have women all around us in different industries, working hard and breaking all the age-old stereotypes. One such industry that has seen a huge boon for women is content creation. Everyday
You scroll through your social media, and there are many talented people showcasing their skills and breaking all the odds.

Well, today our guest, RJ-turned-content creator Karishma, has made it big with her rib-tickling short videos. Having been a keen observer ever since her childhood, Karishma had always observed people’s behaviour, their signature phrases, and their reactions. “My inspirations come from years of family drama that any average Indian family deals with on a day-to-day basis,” shared Karishma on how content creation happened to her, shifting from RJ to the world of content creation. “I often found myself coming up with silly skits, jokes, and pranks that I knew could be great content ideas. A few years ago, I realised I just had to take action to make these ideas come to life. I started creating comedy videos and posting them on Instagram and YouTube. Surprisingly, people seemed to enjoy them, and the response was really positive. I was able to slowly build an audience that kept growing over time.”

It’s surely not going to be wrong to say that she’s one of the ‘Comedy Queens of Social Media.’ Not just that, her videos will tickle your funny bones, but they will also describe your Dukh, Dard, and Peedha in the funniest way. During the pandemic, at a time when we were leaving one of the most difficult phases of our lives, it was a task for people to stay calm during the tough times. It was then that she felt amazing to be able to make people laugh and bring them joy through her content. “I took great joy in writing jokes and creating funny skits for my viewers to enjoy. To this day, I still get a great feeling when I receive positive comments or know that people enjoy my content,” enthused the top-notch artist.

While one might think that creating content every day is easy, creating comedy content, just like the rest, involves a lot of hard work. “It takes a lot of creativity, dedication, and time to make something that people can really enjoy and laugh at,” believes Karishma. True that! She further continues, “It can also be quite difficult to keep up the momentum once you start creating content; it’s not enough to just have a few good ideas. You have to be consistently creating innovative content that can grab your viewers’ attention. If you’ve got an idea, take action and make it happen! You won’t know how successful it can be until you give it a shot.”

Though we say that times have changed, has it really changed? Well, not really. There have still been stereotypes about women that they cannot work like men. Why talk about the other industry? Even in the entertainment industry, women are often trolled to a huge extent. People do think women cannot entertain the audience or the viewers like men’s creators. So, does Karishma feel the same? “There are plenty of female comedians and other people who make awesome content on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and more. Whether it’s stand-up comedy, sketches, or whatever else, the sky’s the limit. It’s honestly amazing to see so many women out there doing cool stuff with comedic flair. So why is this stereotype still so common? Well, some of it undoubtedly stems from an unconscious bias ingrained in society. Maybe we’re used to seeing men dominate the comedy space, so when a woman steps into the limelight, it somehow seems unusual to us. Or maybe we just don’t see enough content from female creators to appreciate their comedic talent. I think this is something we should all work on changing. We can support funny women and other marginalised creators in any way we can. We can watch their content, subscribe to their channels, and share it with our friends to help spread the word. Doing this will also help fight the idea that women can’t make funny content.”No matter how good you are at something, you do have people who pull you down or make you feel that you are lacking somewhere. On how she manages to not let these things affect her or her work, she says, “It’s definitely something that’s happened to all of us, and it can be really hard. First, it’s important to take care of yourself physically and emotionally. Make sure to get enough sleep, eat healthy, and make time for yourself. All of these things will help put your head in the right space. I personally feel that it’s also important to focus on things that make you happy. I usually think about activities that make me smile and give me energy to keep going. At the end of the day, we all face obstacles and challenges, but it’s how we choose to respond that really matters. You have the power within yourself to stay positive and persevere in spite of any roadblocks you may encounter. So remember—you are strong and capable; be proud of who you are, and keep going!”

It can be difficult to stand out with all the noise out there, and so she makes sure to stay up to date with current trends and news as well, which further helps her to create super engaging content that stands out. She prefers to get creative with her delivery techniques and experiment with new formats. For her, it’s all about keeping things fresh and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. She believes that with a bit of patience and creativity, you can write unique content that stands out from the crowd!

“Life can be incredibly overwhelming and chaotic at times, but it’s important to take time for ourselves and figure out ways to protect our peace,” highlights Karishma. She usually unplugs herself from technology for a few hours each day to just be in the moment. “I usually take time out for myself, which includes setting aside a few minutes every morning or evening. I find people who support and acknowledge me and who want to see me happy. I know no one can make us happy all the time, but it can be invaluable to have supportive people in our lives who understand what we’re going through and who are willing to listen.”
