A person allegedly attempted suicide by consuming pesticide in front of Dawn Public School at Naspur in the district on Tuesday. He was immediately rushed to government hospital in Mancherial.

He was identified as Narsaiah. He took the extreme step as the school management asked him to pay the tuition fees of his son, Harshavardhan, who studied in the school during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Narsaiah owed tuition fees to the school management. Claiming himself to be poor, he requested the management to waive the tuition fees and give him his son’s transfer certificates. As the school management refused to issue a transfer certificate, the agonised Narsaiah took the extreme step.

Narsaiah told the management that he got his son admitted to a Government School in Hyderabad. But the management did not relent.

However, Narsaiah’s spouse Suma alleged that the school management insulted her husband when he had gone to the school to get his son’s certificates, leading to Narsaiah consuming pesticides.

She said that the couple work as daily labourers. To make their son pursue higher education, they got him admitted to a government school.

A weeping Suma said that the condition of Narsaiah was critical.
