In a shocking incident, a man burnt his brother alive at Kareemabad Ursu area in Warangal town on Saturday evening. It came to light on Sunday. Property dispute led t the brutal murder, according to police.Â
The police registered a case of murder based on the complaint filed by Govind Sridhar had poured petrol on his brother Srikanth and set him on fire. A property dispute had been persisting between the brothers for long.Â
According to police, of three brothers, the eldest one, Srinivas died long ago. Later, Sridhar and Srikanth divided their ancestral property and each one got 9416 square yards of land. The dispute arose between the two brothers when Srikhant wanted to sell his share of the property. As Sridhar did not allow his brother to sell the property, Srikanth approached the police for a resolution of the dispute. The police summoned Sridhar and advised him to allow his brother to sell his share of the property.Â
When Srikanth took the potential buyers to show the property, Sridhar attacked his brother. When those who came to see the property fled, Sridhar dragged his brother inside the house, poured petrol on him and set him on fire. When Srikant tried to escape from the scene, Sridhar chased his brother and pounded him with a boulder, the police said.Â
Srikanth’s wife told the police that her husband, along with his mother, had in the past migrated to Nizamabad and worked as a daily wager. He married a woman in Nizamabad. He returned to Warangal recently to sell his share of the property to cover medical expenses as he took ill.Â
What is more shocking was that though Sridhar allegedly pounded his brother with a boulder in full public view, none dared to come to the rescue of Srikanth, the police said.Â
